Psoriasis is a chronic disease that is caused when a person’s immune system sends false signals that tell the skin cells to grow too quickly. New skin cells normally form in weeks, these signals tell them to grow in days, and because of this the body cannot shed the excess skin cells. They pile up on the skins surface causing patches. Psoriasis is not contagious and it cannot be spread by touching someone that has it.
